Description

Lemongrass or Fever Grass tea is a Belizean favourite often paired with breakfast/dinner or enjoyed on its own. As the name suggests, the tea is derived from a tall, stalky plant that is easily identified by its citrusy aroma. The tea has anti-inflammatory properties and is locally used as a fever-reducing agent. It also aids with digestion and the lowering of blood pressure. Ms. Libertad Cal of Yo Creek Village shares how she prepares and enjoys this popular tea on her fire hearth. She sips her brew from a traditional calabash cup or jicara.
